GLA Labour Fundraiser and nasty rumours about Lib Dem plans to close down Housing Arbitration Service!!Hibs get Motherwell in the CIS Cup!

Below are a selection of pictures that I took at the really successful Lambeth & Southwark Labour Party GLA Fundraiser last night in a Waterloo Restaurant Ev with around 200 members attending to hear from Ken, Val, Harriet, Tessa and Keith Hill. It was really good to get out with our colleagues in Lambeth and everyone enjoyed a great evening and lots of money made for the Party!!!

I have been on the Housing Arbitration Panel for over a year now and have been asked to be interviewed and attend a consultation event as part of this Administration's Review of the Arbitration Service. all sounds very reasonable but not with this Lib Dem/Tory Administration who are putting the word out that they want to close it down which once again makes a mockery of any consultation process ... no change there then!!!
They would obviously prefer to have their incompetence dragged through the courts day in day out and I somehow feel that a Magistrate will be a lot less undestanding than any Arbitration panel, it really is a ludicrous idea!!! but this bunch in power are fiddling whilst Rome burns so there is just no talking to them!!
Apparently there were lots of unhappy Lib Dems gathering in corners around the Town Hall on Monday night as it appears Denise has just escaped with her well paid job intact after calls from her own colleagues for her to resign!! Apparently 6 did not show up and a further 4 voting against her and another abstaining. She cannot survive a Vote of No Conficence in the Council Chamber whenever it comes and really neds to do the right thing now and resign!! Somehow I dont thing this is over yet and we will keep up the pressure at next week's Council Assembly!! More to Come!!!

On the football front Hibs face Motherwell at home in the second round of their defence of the CIS Insurance Cup on Wednesday 26th September 2007.

Hibs have also just signed Norwich City 19 year old forward Kurtis Byrne, son of former Celtic player Paul Byrne, is already an Under -19 Republic of Ireland International and scored as a Hibs trialist last week so looks like a good signing and yet another squad member under 20 years of age!
Congratulations to Stephen Fletcher for winning the Clydesdale Scottish Young Player of the Month for August, he really has come a long way very quickly and no doubt will be on Celtic and rangers radar for a bid in January or at best end of the season!!!
